Join us this Sunday, April 27th, for an in-depth look at Fellowship. We’ll explore community expectations—both healthy and unrealistic, inside and outside the church—as they relate to Acts 2:42 and following. We will also discuss simple but effective ways to practice fellowship and why they are essential to the Christian life. This session continues our examination of the importance of learning from the apostles, understanding the core teachings of the Christian faith, and applying them today.
Plus, enjoy coffee and a pastry!

Our major mission effort on the Honduran Island of Roatan

A major mission effort spearheaded by Beverly Kitchin of Restoration Church Of Port Orange, FL is the Sandy Bay Lighthouse Ministries' Children's Home in Roatan, Honduras. This institution provides care for 24 children, ranging in age from 2 to 18, who have been placed there by Roatan authorities due to circumstances of neglect, abandonment, or mistreatment that prevented them from living with their parents. The purpose of this mission is to assist these vulnerable children and engage with the local community, in accordance with the Honduran government's policy of ensuring their children remain within the country. While some children reside at the home for a limited time, the majority stay until they achieve independence.

Annually the children’s home board meets to review strategies to ensure the children's home remains a God-honoring refuge and that the affiliated bilingual school, serving grades 1-9, adheres to Honduran accreditation laws. This school significantly impacts the community by enrolling 130 students from both the children’s home and the surrounding area at a nominal cost. Additionally, the board carefully scrutinized the yearly budget to maximize the impact of the lempira on this island experiencing high inflation.

What We’ve Done So Far This Year

This year, 2025, as part of their outreach efforts, Bev Kitchin and the rest of the board members visited a nearby impoverished village to distribute groceries. These included 10-pound bags of dried vegetables and fresh tilapia from the home’s fish tanks, which the older children help maintain. This initiative demonstrates the home’s commitment to serving the local community and provides opportunities for the older children to participate in food distribution, fostering a sense of purpose, mission, and connection. Evenings were dedicated to devotionals for the children, nurturing their spiritual growth in a supportive environment. The board members adopt a hands-on approach, building strong relationships with the children while observing their development across spiritual, social, academic, and emotional areas. Each board member donates at least one trip per year to strengthen these relationships and gain firsthand insight into the home’s operations. With a wide age range among the children, a strong sense of community naturally develops, with older children mentoring and caring for the younger ones, creating a nurturing "Big Family" atmosphere within the home.

Beverly Thanks All Who Gave

Bev expressed her thanks to RCPO for their invaluable contributions of supplies and prayers. “I want to sincerely thank those who helped cover the extra baggage fees, enabling us to transport your generous donations of clothing and medical supplies to the children and the community. Every pill, band-aid, newborn hat, and other item you provided made a significant difference. Through your generosity, you truly acted as the hands, feet, touch, and voice of Christ to these fatherless children, offering them the chance to experience the love of their true Father. My heartfelt thanks for your partnership in this 2025 mission trip!”
