Series: Nehemiah: Building for the Future
Speaker: Pastor Anthony Orzo

Take your next steps with Restoration:

At our Men's and Women's Social Gatherings: Are you interested in meeting some new people? The second week of every month, the men and women get together for various social events. This week, the women will meet for a special Bonfire on Thursday, March 12th, at 7pm and the men will gather for Wings at the Port Orange Houligans on Friday, March 13th, at 6pm. We'd love for you to join us! To RSVP, or get connected to the Men's or Women's Facebook page, reply here.

At our Sunday Gatherings: Are you interested in taking your next steps for Jesus with us at Restoration? Last month we launched a brand new series to help you do just that. As we approach our 5-year anniversary, we'll look to the book of Nehemiah to help us pray, plan and labor towards what the next 5 years hold for us. Learn how to play your part this Sunday at 10am. Invite a friend and we hope to see you there. Check out the Sunday Gatherings on our calendar.

Primary Passages: Nehemiah 1:1-11

Launching Discussion: Take a few minutes to share with the group any of the take away truths you had with the opening illustration of ‘The man on the roof”. How did God speak/challenge you in that story?

Sermon Questions:

1. Have you ever thought about the difference between praying for God to solve a problem in your life and praying for God to provide an opportunity for you to solve it?

  • What type of faith does “asking God for miracles instead of opportunities” to solve life’s challenges tend to create in a person’s life?

2. Why is it important as we pray for God to renew a disciple-making movement at our church that we really understand the balance between prayer and action?

  • What are some of the potential dangers of overemphasizing one side of that paradigm at the expense of the other?

3. Based on your prior experience (personal or observed) which do you feel is the more common way Christians tend to lean when it comes to prayer and action?

  • Why do you feel this is the case? Which way do you tend to lean?

4. Think about how this statement affects a disciple-making movement at RCPO, “One of the great mistakes we make as Christians will be to pray for God to do for us—what he wants to do through us.”

  • How could praying like this be a roadblock for a person to get to “God’s 'Could be' in their life” whether it is in a personal matter, or a church-wide vision
